Who I Help

I typically work with mid-market and enterprise organisations (200–5,000 people) across financial services, professional services, healthcare, and government. If any of these sound familiar, let’s talk.

  • Your board is asking about AI and you need a credible answer
  • You've tried a pilot that didn't go anywhere and want to do it properly this time
  • You're not confident your data and technology foundations are ready for AI
  • You need senior technology leadership but aren't ready for a full-time hire

How I Help

Practical services that cut through the noise and focus on what actually moves your business forward.

Clarity

AI Feasibility & Focus

I look at your business, identify where AI can genuinely help, and tell you honestly where it can't. No wasted pilots.

Delivery

Rapid AI Prototype

A fixed-scope engagement to build and test a working prototype so you can see results before committing to a full programme.

Strategy

AI Strategy That Makes Sense

A practical plan that connects AI to the business problems you actually need solved, not a 200-page document that collects dust.

Governance

Governance & Risk

I set up the guardrails so your AI initiatives are safe, compliant, and trusted without slowing everything down.

Leadership

Hands-On Tech Leadership

Senior technology leadership when you need it, fractional or interim, to keep your teams focused and your projects on track.

Advisory

Board & Executive Advisory

I help leadership teams ask the right questions about AI, make confident decisions, and communicate clearly to the board.

“Why not just hire a big consultancy?”

Fair question. Here are the concerns I hear most — and how experience answers each one.

The Short Version

20+ years across Microsoft, Experian, government, and financial services. A patent acquired by Microsoft. Over 1,200 professionals guided through AI adoption. No intermediary layers, no handoffs — just the person with the experience doing the work.

What makes you different from other independents?

AI is embedded in how I deliver — from research and architecture options through to governance documentation and design validation. One practitioner covering work that traditionally required a team of four or five:

  • Higher quality, lower cost
  • Output arrives governed, documented, and ready to execute
  • 20 years of enterprise architecture behind every recommendation
Tools change. Judgement doesn’t.

Isn’t AI going to replace consulting entirely?

AI already handles the research, analysis, and documentation that junior teams used to produce. What it cannot replace:

  • The judgement to choose the right option — not just list them
  • The pattern recognition to anticipate where implementations fail
  • The credibility to present that recommendation to a board
AI accelerates the work. Experience directs it.

What if I need a team, not a person?

Most enterprise AI work requires depth of experience, not headcount. When the engagement demands it, I bring in specialists and structure delivery around clear roles. The result:

  • Faster decisions, no knowledge dilution between handoffs
  • Reduced risk from scoping through to production
  • A consistent standard of delivery throughout

Can a solo founder handle enterprise-scale work?

My career spans systems that serve millions of users. A patent I developed underpins Co‑Authoring in Office 365. Founder-led does not mean under-resourced — it means the person with the right experience is the one doing the work.

Experience scales. Headcount doesn’t always.

What about continuity and key-person risk?

Every engagement produces documented deliverables structured for your independence:

  • Architecture decision records and governance frameworks
  • Runbooks and transition plans
  • Full ownership retained by your organisation from day one

Large consultancies offer brand reassurance.

Several of those consultancies have hired me to lead their most demanding projects. The expertise you’d be paying them to provide often originates from professionals like me. Working directly removes the intermediary — same calibre of delivery, every hour of budget toward the work itself.

How do I justify this to my board?

Boards evaluate outcomes, risk, and cost. Founder-led delivery offers:

  • Clear accountability to a named individual
  • Lower overhead without an account-management layer
  • Faster decision cycles without an internal approvals chain

I regularly help clients prepare board-ready business cases across multiple sectors.

Experience is the risk mitigation.
